Instagram’s Checkout feature lets you buy stuff directly through the app
Instagram has added a new feature that will let you buy things directly through the platform.
Called Checkout, it will allow users to shop within Instagram as if their feed is a product catalogue.
“When you tap to view a product from a brand’s shopping post, you’ll see a Checkout on Instagram’ button on the product page,” the company explained on its blog.
When you send an item to Checkout, you will be able to select your preferred size and colour too.
In order to make purchases through Instagram, users will then have to enter their personal information for delivery and billing.
“Once your first order is complete, your information will be securely saved for convenience the next time you shop,” Instagram noted.
The full list of participating brands include Adidas, Burberry, Kylie Cosmetics, Prada, and Nike.
The announcement of Checkout comes after Instagram’s previous shopping experiences, including #InstaGiftGuide and its Stories’ based shopping system.
Currently, Checkout is available on Instagram beta in the States, and it’s not yet clear when it will be rolled out globally.
