Area 51 raid was ‘disappointing’ but the memes continue

If you’ve come across “Area 51 raid” or saw the phrase trending all over social media this past weekend, you might be wondering what’s been going on over in the United States.

The truth is simple, a Facebook Event made several months ago started one of 2019’s biggest memes after asking the world to raid the controversial military base Area 51, which has long been associated with alien activity.

The raid, which was set to happen on 20 September 2019, was famously titled “Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us”.

Though millions of people on Facebook confirmed they would be attending the event, the day arrived with anti-climatic results.
