Flying SAA or Mango today? You might want to pack some snacks
How much do you love your airline food? You connoisseurs out there may have to bring your own lunchboxes on Monday, as employees from SAA-owned Air Chefs plan to go on strike.
The airline catering company temporarily halted the action, which was due to begin at 6am this morning.
Air Chef employees, affiliated to Numsa, are striking after the company stopped paying “anniversary bonuses”.
Air Chefs supplies SAA, SA Express and Mango with in-flight meals, snacks, and beverages. The company has 1200 employees, according to its website.
The company also supplies lounges, staff restaurants, and function catering at South African airports.
While there have been no reports of disrupted flights at the time of writing, it’s probably best to be prepared.
