Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things 3’ racks up 64m ‘household’ views in one month
Netflix on Wednesday revealed that Stranger Things 3 was the most watched season of the show to do date, with 64-million households tuning in to watch it in its first month.
In its third-quarter shareholders letter, the company noted that original content like Stranger Things has been working to improve “member viewing and engagement” in a time when studios like Disney are launching their own streaming platforms.
“While the new competitors have some great titles (especially catalogue titles), none have the variety, diversity and quality of new original programming that we are producing around the world,” Netflix said.
Notably, in its first four days Stranger Things 3 racked up over 40-million views and the show’s fourth season is already in the works.
It’s not quite clear how Netflix quantifies its measure of “households” though.
As for its growing competition like Disney+ and HBO Max, Netflix also revealed that it’s “ready to compete to earn consumers’ attention and viewing”.
