A 10-inch Windows 8 tablet from Nokia? Stranger things have happened

Time for a short story about a 10-inch Windows 8 tablet from Nokia and Microsoft courtesy of “upstream component suppliers.”

Come the final quarter of 2012, a tablet PC rocking Qualcomm’s dual-core CPU is expected to land. The machine will be outsourced by Nokia to global computer makers, Compal Electronics. According to sources, there’s going to be an initial shipment of 200 000 Nokia/Microsoft Windows 8 tablets. No further details regarding the tablet have been released.

This isn’t the first time Nokia has considered bringing a Windows 8 tablet to the party. Last November, Nokia announced plans for a Windows 8 tablet to arrive June 2012. With iOS and Android murdering Nokia’s share of the tablet market, this is a smart move for Nokia to make.

This is sure to spark even further competition between Microsoft, Apple and Android. Can this new tablet, powered by the mighty Microsoft and Finnish giant Nokia chip away at the brick wall of power created by the all-conquering iPad? Look forward to a tablet battle, coming soon to a device near you.
