Spotify is cool, but jamming to it with your friends is cooler
Hey, remember the days when you used to go round to a mate’s house with the latest CD that you just had to share? Well they’re back, thanks to something called the Social Jukebox.
The brainchild of design student Andrew Pairman, the Social Jukebox (kids, a jukebox was a large machine you stuck coins in and played music) is an Andruino-based music player that lets people share playlists embedded in RFID-enabled wooden tokens.
The device links to Spotify to load random songs from each of the playlists. Oh, and there’s no skipping function. So if you happen to have the theme song from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles of your playlist, tough – everyone has to sit through it.
