The day has come: Facebook iPhone app to get speed boost

And here’s why. The app is moving from a native HTML5 environment to Objective-C, the iOS coding language. Okay that’s the one line of geek speak out of the way. What does this mean for you?

Arguably, a tiny UI update would be cool but according to the Facebook app engineers, nothing’s going to change in terms of looks or interface. The next update laser-focuses its sights on pure, raw speed. This is all according to a report from a pair of hush-hush Facebook engineers.

So why was this damn app so slow? We mean, here’s the app which get’s reviews like: “Every change that comes ends up with bugs. The Facebook app is always bad. So bad that I’m actually writing a review about it which I never do.” Seems legit. Speed issues then are down to the fact that the app renders all content like a webpage, which is bad news for performance lovers. The new app will take the power of the iPhone 4S’ hardware and run with it.

Let’s hope this app comes sooner than later. We’ll be checking the app store constantly for the speedy update.
