Windows Siri alternative Ask Ziggy aims for iOS and Android

Every OS has its own Siri-like service. Windows has Ask Ziggy, and soon Android and iOS users will be able to ask it questions too. Windows is only the beginning, next, the world.

It can answer most questions that you throw at it, besides things like, “what’s the meaning of the answer ’42’?” But now, sources have found that with a generous injection of US$5 million from an undisclosed multinational corporation, it is looking at expanding into Apple and Android territory within Q3. With the deadline looming, developers will be hard-pressed to produce a product that will work properly in time.

Ask Ziggy is working with Nuance and Kopin Corporation with its Golden-i real time speech and gesture interface, to create a gateway to information that is completely hands-free and easy to use.

It’s very ambitious too, considering the time constraints and the goal. Not to mention going against the big boys in the industry. But if it can be produced successfully and works well, then Siri will have some serious competition and could be pushed into the dark.
