iPad Mini: leaked screenshot shows big price tag
With the rumored iPad mini launch event scheduled for 23 October, a leaked screenshot has surfaced detailing model range, storage capacity and price listings courtesy of Mobile Geeks.
The screenshot shows that the iPad mini will be released in eight variants, none of which would feature the rumored coloured back-panels, a feature we were looking forward to seeing. The devices range from an entry-level 8GB version to a top of the range 64GB version. Another significant difference is the inclusion of both a Wi-Fi and cellular enabled version of the device.
The most important piece of information that the screenshot revealed however was price, ranging between 249.00 to 649.00 depending on model. Unfortunately the currency remains unspecified,. This can be interpreted in two ways, if priced in US Dollars, device-costs would be on par with earlier projections. However, if priced in Euros, the devices could be exorbitantly overpriced. With consumers having to pay up to US$322 for the “iPad Mini Wi-Fi 8GB Schwarz(Black)” entry-level model according to calculations.
It would seem inconceivable for consumers to want to pay that much for a miniature version of the iPad. All we can do is hope that this spec sheet is not finalised, as potential consumers would have to sell a kidney to get their hands on Apple’s latest tablet.
