iPad Mini is in production, Retina Display not part of Apple’s new tablet
The Wall Street Journal has sources claiming that Apple’s upcoming iPad Mini is intended to compete within the low-end tablet market, specs-wise.
Apple is now set to throw its hat in the ring with a 7.85 inch, non-Retina Display model which will be hitting stores early November, if the article by WSJ is to be believed. According to the humble sources, LG and Taiwan’s AU Optronics have been hard at work on the iPad Mini’s display for over a month now. That news however is slightly disconcerting as we have become all to accustomed to the beauty that is Retina Display. Could that mean that with diminished dimensions and screen resolution, the consumer will be looking at a reasonable price of roughly US$200?
Don’t be naive. Apple products will always be overpriced, but that doesn’t mean that we wont be selling unnecessary organs to get a hold of one of these beauties. The question still remains though, why pay so much money for an overweight iPod touch?
