The exemplary performance of Far Cry 3 and Assassins Creed 3 have prompted Ubisoft to announce that both installments will be planned for 2014, according to Cinema Blend. These two core games for Ubisoft shipped a massive 12 million and 4.5 million copies respectively. This represents units shipped to retailers as well as copies sold digitally.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot related to investors that Far Cry 3 is “one of the major pillars of our offering for core gamers” and performed “way better than expected”, so expect that Far Cry 4 is definitely in the making. As Guillemot went on to say: “fans certainly won’t have to wait four more years for the next Far Cry.” FC3 has been one of the highest rated FPS games for Ubisoft, scoring a Metacritic rating of more than 90% across platforms, and was the highest rated Xbox shooter in 2012. Not a bad performance for such a short time since its December release.

Assassins Creed 3 was the big seller for Ubisoft, outperforming Assassins Creed Revelations released a year earlier. About a fourth installment, Guillemont said that “We are delighted and proud to announce today that in FY14 (financial year 2014), we will introduce an all-new Assassin’s Creed hero, within an all new team and time period.”

These two games have been the star sellers in Ubisoft’s stable, helping the company to sales of about US$1.09 billion for its financial year.
