PS3-exclusive ‘rain’ drops trailer and release date

rain

The deceptively simple title, rain, fits the concept of this PlayStation-exclusive nicely. The adventure game follows the story of a boy looking for a girl set in a world where it rains 24/7. The plot’s more exciting than that – don’t worry. Curiously enough, the boy and other casts of characters are merely silhouettes and are revealed only by the rain.

So, the story goes that the invisible-boy spotted a invisible-girl amidst the downpour and the adventure thus commences. But (there’s always a but), other ghostly abominations also haunt this simple yet unique love story. As these two innocent souls try to escape the night, they go through the usual roller coaster love tale as they miss each other along the way, find each other again, etc, etc. This uniquely somber tale will let you solve puzzles, explore the strange wet world and evade those creepy monsters.

The sad and rainy story video puts the “pleut” in “il pleut”. It creates a decent atmosphere for you by filling it with piano tunes of French melancholy on top of the relaxing sound of falling rain. rain seems like a worthy indie alternative next to the current race for the next-gen graphics, gesture-motions and action-packed titles.

Developed by Sony Entertainment’s Japan Studio, rain is said to be making its way to E3 this year and will be released on the PS3. Expect to see coverage of this title on 10 June. Take a look at the gameplay video as well:
