‘Fez 2’ cancelled, creator Phil Fish has twitter meltdown
Fez 2 is cancelled. It all officially came to an end yesterday and since many of us were sleeping off our RedBull-induced hangovers (third all night session of The Last of Us, and counting), some of you may have missed out on the sad Tweet from Fez’s creators, Polytron.
It’s with a heavy heart that we announce that FEZ II has been cancelled and is no longer in development. We apologize for the disappointment

Fez‘s daddy, and indie game developer-darling Phil Fish, took to Polytron’s website yesterday to further rub salt into our wounds.
FEZ II is cancelled.
i am done.
i take the money and i run.
this is as much as i can stomach.
this is isn’t the result of any one thing, but the end of a long, bloody campaign.
you win.
Most gamers, judging by the string of comments below Fish’s quote, thought that the announcement was “bullshit”, “fake” and “a hacked comment” but Polytron’s tweet confirms the end of Fez 2. We’re saddened by its loss.
It all went down on an episode of “Invisible Walls”, Gametrailers chat show. Gaming “opinionist” Marcus Beer led the discussion and ripped into Fish, saying. “You were the guys who did Indie Game: the Movie. And some of you looked relatively normal in it, one of you looked like a total tosspot in it. But you can’t have it both ways. You’re successful game designers — you’re ‘indie’ game designers — hurrah, good for you, you fucking hipsters.”
Fish responded on Twitter, saying “I fucking hate this industry” (Fish’s tweets are protected and cannot be embedded). Shortly after that, Polytron’s website updated with Fish’s sad comment. Watch Beer lose his some of his marbles in the video below. Beer’s comments are not the reason that Fish decided to cancel Fez 2, but for anyone who’s seen Indie Game: The Movie, Fish always seemed to be on the razors edge, balancing between artistic success and self-imposed failures. All we have left now of Fez 2 is this announcement trailer and to that we say, not enough.
