Tidux, the Swedish-based insider of all things PlayStation, has revealed that PlayStation users will be in for the “most exciting week of 2014,” after news that the long awaited network improvement update will be pushed through this week.

Taking to Twitter, Tidux has announced that “a general update on servers that will provide better Online gaming and features” will be implemented later today (2 June). In addition, although the update will plunge the PlayStation Network into noticeable darkness, the upgrades will take less than 24 hours to complete.

Tidux has a genuinely solid track record regarding leaked information, most recently unveiling PS4’s 1.7 firmware’s enhancements before its release date.

With just a few days until this year’s E3 — rumoured to be the most important conference for Microsoft and Sony in some time — the Japanese company hasn’t released any information regarding the proposed upgrade. We could expect a few major announcements coming from Sony within the next few weeks though, among many, Uncharted 4’s release.
