World of Warcraft expansion Warlords of Draenor may feature in-game tributes to Robin Williams
Robin Williams’ passing earlier this month triggered a flurry of rightfully deserved internet tributes. Our favourites are these three in-game models found in World of Warcraft, the decade-old online game that’s currently increasing its prices to fix falling profits, as it releases new content with the Warlords of Draenor expansion.
Anyway
Shortly after Williams’ passing, Blizzard tweeted its condolences, saying that they’ll see Williams “in-game”.
.@robinwilliams Thank you. You gave us so much joy in our lives, and we hope you enjoyed your time in our world. We’ll see you in-game.

That’s when Wowhead, a World of Warcraft modding site, stepped in. After a bit of digging, the site found three “Robin” in-game character models. Two are male and female “entertainers”, while the third is a big, blue genie, which is actually an enemy from existing WoW expansion Cataclysm, but may be altered in some way (this was pointed out by a savvy commentator over on Kotaku).
Wowhead says that the female Robin model is a Mrs. Doubtfire tribute, but we say that the male model bares a closer resemblance. These three characters will feature in the upcoming expansion Warlords of Draenor, in patch 6.0.1. Below is the Genie enemy, and the “Robin the Entertainer” NPCs.
