Vodacom, one of South Africa’s largest cellular providers, has announced that it’s offering a new prepaid promotion dubbed “Use & Get”. Rather refreshingly, the promotion’s name actually mirrors what it offers.
“Designed to attract new customers and reward loyalty,” notes the presser, “Use & Get gives additional airtime tomorrow equivalent to the airtime used today.”
For instance, if a user purchases a R55 airtime voucher and consumes all R55 during the day, Vodacom will offer that user the same airtime value “back for free tomorrow.”
There are some clauses though. Bundles like Power Hour and Power Internet do not apply, and the free airtime garnered cannot be used to purchase bundles. The airtime is also only valid until midnight.
Although it sounds terribly gimmicky, it seems that it would work best for those who casually browse the web and don’t purchase a data voucher. In a sense, one could spend R20 browsing the web in one sitting, and use the free R20 the following day in another.
Vodacom has however noted that it’s not capping the amount of free airtime on offer, so if you’re hellbent on spending all R1000 of your newly-purchased airtime streaming cat videos on YouTube, chances are you’ll probably enjoy doing the same thing the following day.
To activate, the company suggests the following:
To access Use & Get, opt-in by dialling *111#, select promotions from the menu and follow the prompts (Alternatively dial *111*790# for the direct string). Opt-in only needs to be performed once.
The promotion is valid to all Vodacom prepaid users and will run until the end of June 2015.
