DOOM on the Apple Watch is a technical masterpiece [video]

Porting games and even entire operating systems to smartwatches is old hat. We’ve seen Windows 98 boot on a Sony smartwatch before, but that isn’t nearly as impressive, or interesting, as this.
A team of Facebook developers, Lior Tubi and Mehdi Mulani, from Tel-Aviv, Israel has managed to port DOOM (yes, John Carmack’s masterpiece) onto an Apple Watch running watchOS 2.
If it sounds crazy, it’s probably because it is.
“[W]e had a 10-hour hackathon in our Facebook Tel-Aviv office, and the idea was to hack around iOS stuff,” Tubi notes in the video description. “Apple has released beta versions for watchOS 2 that lets you run native apps on the watch and we thought it could be fun to port Doom over to it!”
After what he notes was a few hours or ironing out bugs and kinks, the result is visible in the video below. And what a video it is.
Sadly, the code will not be made publically available but Tubi notes that the next project might involve a coffee machine. GTA anyone?
