Nintendo Direct: Kirby gets badass, Splatoon and Super Mario Maker get updates
More news on upcoming games and big announcements were made on Nintendo‘s latest Nintendo Direct broadcast.
Aired at midnight this morning in South Africa, the company talked Star Fox Zero, updates for the likes of Splatoon and Super Mario Maker, and upcoming titles including Bravely Second: End Layer, Hyrule Warriors Legends and Pokken Tournament — all out this month.
And if reboots are more to your fancy, Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games will feature all those lovable characters playing Rugby Sevens and other track and field events.
But perhaps the biggest news is Kirby’s return to the Nintendo 3DS in Kirby: Planet Robobot. The pink ball of happiness trades rainbow paintbrushes for a mech suit in this title, but retains its platforming origins. Nintendo’s Bill Trinen notes that Kirby’s suit can be modified too with each enemy defeated.
There’s also a gameplay mode called Team Kirby Clash which requires one group of four players to own the game (thanks to Download Play), but will allow all gamers to complete quests together.
But that’s just the tip of the Nintendo iceberg. Have a look at Trinen’s full Nintendo Direct below.
