Xiaomi Mi Mix: this beautiful concept is happening
Xiaomi revealed the rather snazzy Mi Note 2 in China earlier today, but it also had another device up its sleeve in the form of the ridiculous Mi Mix phablet.
The Mi Mix is a concept handset made out of ceramic materials, but the Chinese firm has decided to steam ahead and push it into production.
“It’s real! We’ve brought our concept phone into production. Introducing the Mi MIX, our largest screen flagship ever. Beautifully crafted with ceramic with industry leading technology,” the company wrote on its Facebook page.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix might be one of the best looking smartphones of 2016
So what makes it special? Well, just look at it…
The device comes packed with a 6.4-inch “edgeless display”, bringing to mind the radical Sharp Aquos Crystal smartphone. In fact, Xiaomi claims a screen to body ratio of just over 91%. By comparison, the Crystal’s ratio is pegged at 78.5%.
Otherwise, you’ve got a heavy-lifting Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB or 6GB RAM, a minimum of 128GB storage and a 4400mAh battery.
Moving to the camera department, you’ve got a 16MP main shooter and a 5MP front-facing camera.
Want to get in on the action? Well, the device comes in two variants, namely a 4GB RAM/128GB storage model and a 6GB RAM/256GB version.
The 4GB model will set you back RMB3499 (R7130 as a straight conversion) and the 6GB model will cost RMB3999 (R8149).
Xiaomi is also preparing a version of the 6GB variant with 18 karat gold rims around the fingerprint scanner and camera.
