LG X power2 revealed, to last entire weekend?

LG X power2

LG’s X power stood out from the pack thanks to its endurance, offering a large 4100mAh battery for two-day battery life. Now, the South Korean firm has announced the X power2, delivering incremental updates at first glance.

The new handset seems to offer a slightly upgraded 1.5Ghz octacore A53 processor, although we’re not quite sure of the chip model and manufacturer. By comparison, the original X power offered a 1.3Ghz octacore MT6753 chip. Otherwise, the power department also gives you the choice of either 1.5GB or 2GB of RAM.

The X power2 also doesn’t stand out on the display front, featuring a 5.5-inch 720p display that was ostensibly used in an attempt to drive down costs and improve battery life.

Speaking of the battery life, this is where we see a notable improvement, with the new handset jumping from a large 4100mAh pack to 4500mAh battery. So how good is it, then?

“The LG X power2 was designed to operate for an entire weekend without recharging. Fully charged, the LG X power2 can playback videos continuously for approximately 15 hours, provide navigational directions for about 14 hours or surf the web for around 18 hours,” the company said in a statement.

The LG X power2 doesn’t seem like a massive upgrade over last year’s model, but battery-conscious users should keep an eye on it

By comparison, Apple claims “wireless video playback” for 14 hours and web surfing for 13 hours on 3G and 15 hours on WiFi.

The company is also packing fast-charging tech into the X power2, claiming 50% charging in one hour and full capacity in two hours.

As for the camera department, we’ve got a similar 13MP main camera to last year’s model, while the 5MP selfie shooter packs an LED flash as well.

No pricing has been announced but it will be launched in the beginning of March in “Latin America followed by key markets in United States, Asia, Europe and other regions”.
