Fire Pro Wrestling is back, set for release on PC, PS4

Fire Pro Wrestling World

The WWE franchise tend to be the biggest game in town by default, but the Fire Pro Wrestling series has long been held by enthusiasts as the premiere grappling franchise around. Now, after ten years, a new title in the series, Fire Pro Wrestling World, has been announced.

Featuring charming 2D visuals, a control scheme that emphasises timing over button-bashing and robust customisation (down to tweaking AI), the franchise is pretty much the opposite of other games in its sub-genre.

And it seems like the latest title is set to continue in this vein, offering deathmatches (involving barbed wire, landmines and more), an MMA mode, as well as online matches for the first time.

Fire Pro Wrestling World is set for release on PS4 and PC (via Steam), with a Q2 2017 date mooted for the latter. Unfortunately, the PS4 version doesn’t have a release date just yet.

The Steam version will be available via Early Access, with “more robust editing tools and additional game modes/match options” expected to appear in the full version.

Developer Spike Chunsoft recommends an Intel Core i5, 4GB of RAM, a DX9c graphics card with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of hard drive space as the minimum requirements.
