Xiaomi Mi 6 gets 19 April launch date

We’ve heard numerous rumours and seen supposed leaks, but now, we’ve finally got a reveal date for the Xiaomi Mi 6.

The company used a live-stream to announce that the Mi 6 event would take place on 19 April. The news contradicts several claims that the device would be revealed today (11 April).

So what can we expect from the new handset, then?

Well, we’ve got a comprehensive rumour rundown, but we’re expecting a Snapdragon 835 processor, as well as 4GB or 6GB of RAM. In other words, it won’t be a slouch in the power department.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 will be revealed on 19 April, being the company’s next high-end device

The camera department has seen a wide variety of wild rumours, such as single and dual-camera variants, a variant with a 30MP main camera and a model with Sony’s latest IMX400 camera sensor.

The new phone has a lot to live up to, following in the footsteps of the Xiaomi Mi 5 (review), which was announced at MWC 2016. We praised last year’s flagship for its bright screen, powerful internals, great camera and overall design. And it made for a great deal at R7999, undercutting many rivals in the process.

Here’s hoping the company maintains its tradition of great specs at a competitive price.
