BlackBerry Motion packs frugal processor, big battery
The BlackBerry KeyOne stood out thanks to a well-sized battery, physical keyboard and the ever-popular-if-slightly-underpowered Snapdragon 625 processor. But what if you want something more traditional? Well, that’s where the IP67-toting BlackBerry Motion comes in.
Spotted by Evan Blass last week, Crackberry has revealed the full specs. So what should you expect?
Those wanting a more powerful phone will be disappointed, as it’s still the ever-reliable Snapdragon 625 processor. Otherwise, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage rounds out the water-resistant package.
Other notable additions include a more traditional 5.5-inch full HD LCD screen (eschewing the physical keyboard of the KeyOne) as well as a front-mounted fingerprint scanner and side-mounted “convenience key” for shortcuts.
The BlackBerry Motion looks like it could be an endurance champion of note
As for the camera department, we’re looking at a 12MP main camera (1.55 microns, f/2.0 aperture) and an 8MP f/2.2 front-facing shooter.
Best of all (perhaps), is the fact that the BlackBerry Motion also packs a 4000mAh battery into its frame. Combined with the Snapdragon 625, it means that two days of juice should be well within reach for the smartphone. After all, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (review) packs similar specs and achieved 11 hours in our looping video test — almost double the average endurance.
What about local availability?
“We do not currently have any confirmed availability regarding the BlackBerry Motion,” BlackBerry Mobile’s South African representatives told Gearburn shortly before the phone’s official reveal.
