With today’s discerning consumer demanding that their wearable tech be as functional as it is fashionable, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series steps boldly…
Xiaomi debuts its underscreen smartphone camera tech on Twitter
Well, this escalated quickly. Literally hours after Chinese smartphone maker Oppo showcased its first underscreen smartphone camera on a prototype device, its Chinese rival Xiaomi published a video of its own.
It must be underscreen smartphone camera day, or something.
Arguably providing a more complete look at the device, Xiaomi shows off the device side-by-side with a notched phone.

Unlike the notched phone however, the prototype device has its camera buried beneath its screen. It’s not clear how Xiaomi (or Oppo for that matter) is utilising this technology at present.
While the Oppo did look decidedly like a test bed, the Xiaomi seems to be fully functional, running a version of MiUI and allowing the user to snap a selfie.
It’s not clear when the company will push the tech into a consumer device though, but its safe to say that the notch may be staring death in the face.
