Oppo launches A74 5G in South Africa: price and details
Oppo has announced the launch of the A74 5G in South Africa — a mid-range smartphone with 5G connectivity.
The phone joins Oppo’s other offerings on the local market: the A14, A53s, A72, and Reno 5G. Like other devices offered by the company, it seeks to balance features and affordability.
“South Africans are savvy tech users and understand exactly what it is that they want from a smart device. At Oppo we remain committed to developing technology that does more, costs less, and is still aesthetically pleasing,” Liam Faurie, Head of Go-to-Market and Operations for Oppo South Africa, said in a statement.
Among its specs, the phone features a display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a 5000mAh battery, and a 48MP quad-camera setup on the rear. The camera uses AI to upscale images to 108MP resolution.
Other features include 6GB of RAM, 128GB of on-board storage, a Qualcomm processor, and a 16MP selfie camera.
The device comes with Android 11 and full support for Google Mobile Services.

So how much does the Oppo A74 5G cost? The phone has a recommended price of R7 499.
It is also available on contract from Vodacom and MTN, starting at R399 per month.
This makes it one of the most affordable 5G phones currently available locally, along with the Samsung A32 5G.
