Instax Mini Link 2 launches in SA in August: local price and details

Instax mini Link 2 printer with photos

Fujifilm South Africa has announced that its Instax Mini Link 2 instant film printer will be arriving in South Africa at the end of August.

The new printer is a followup to the Mini Link, which was first launched in 2019.

Instax offers a range of instant film cameras and printers. The Mini Link printers are designed for the brand’s standard Mini film–which is the size of a credit card.

What’s new with the Instax Mini Link 2?

So how does the device differ from its predecessor?

One of the major highlights is the InstaxAiR feature. The Mini Link 2 is the first of Instax’s devices to include the AR feature.

This allows users to add graphics and drawings to their prints.

You can do this with the compatible Mini Link 2 app. You can use the app to draw or add effects. The photo’s subject can also use the printer when in the app’s camera frame to trace effects in the air.

You can see a demonstration of the feature in the company’s promotional video:

The printer is also not limited to only working with smartphones. It can also act as a printer for the Fujifilm X-S10 mirrorless digital camera.

Price in South Africa

An exact date for the printer’s launch hasn’t been announced, but it will arrive by the end of August 2022.

The Instax Mini Link 2 will have a recommended retail price of R2,799.

It will be available in three colours: Soft Pink, Clay White, and Space Blue.
