Meet the mid range Oppo A79 5G, the latest addition to the Oppo fam’

Meet the latest addition to the Oppo family the Oppo A79 5G, a device which Oppo says is a fusion of cutting-edge features, sleek design and unparalleled user experience.

It’s the words unparalleled user experience that could prove quite costly.  Let’s have a look at what this new arrival comes with.

What’s inside

The Oppo A79 5G features an 8GB RAM + 256GB ROM configuration which is intended to automatically free ROM space into a maximum of 8GB of RAM to allow the A79 to operate a lot more efficiently.

There’s a 5,000 mAh battery that can be charged to 100% in just over an hour using Oppo’s 33W SUPERVOOCTM flash charge technology. A five-minute charge is enough for up to 1.4 hours of YouTube video viewing and more than two hours of phone calls.

While charging may seem like a drag, it’s what you get out of the time charging that makes it worthwhile.

On paper, users can enjoy about 26 hours of phone calls, and 14 hours on YouTube playback.

Price

The price is set at R 11 999 for the dazzling purple and mystery black versions of the Oppo A79 5G, which comes with 8GB RAM plus 128 GB ROM.

The picture tool

The Oppo A79 5G features a 50MP main camera, a 2MP portrait camera coupled with an 8MP selfie camera at the front.

We see AI built into the camera to allow the device AI capabilities.

It’s powered by MediaTek Dimensity 6020 5G processor, which allows the A79 5G to be able to enhance photo quality, thanks to features such as AI portrait retouching and the ability of the device to capture 108MP ultra clear images.

Colours

The colours come in a purple colour pallet, and mystery black. It’s the “dazzling purple” which comes with some animation, as it features a glowing feather design, which uses a special texture to give the phone a dynamic and feather-like touch while creating an exquisite diamond-like experience.

Weighing 139g, the Oppo A 79 5G measures 7.99 mm in thickness which means a comforting grip line for the user.

Dual stereo speakers are jam packed into the A79 5G, with a peak brightness of 690nits  on the 6.72 inch display. A DCI P3 colour gamut should deliver a series of sparkling colour rays, especial while watching videos.

The Oppo A79 5G looks good on paper, but we’ve seen this script before, beautiful words, with immaculate descriptions.  We can’t wait to see how this Oppo A79 5G does when put to the test.

On paper, it looks like an interesting device, with some personality.
