The €450 Fairphone 3 is probably the greenest phone you can buy
Fairphone, the company that values ethical smartphone manufacturing practices, has announced its latest device.
The Fairphone 3 is the firm’s first phone since 2016, but is also built using recycled material and ethically-sourced precious metals wherever possible.
Fairphone also believes that phones should be wholly repairable, which means the 3 sports a removable battery (at 3000mAh), and a piece-by-piece plastic design. There’s no glass sandwiches anywhere in sight.
While we can admire the device’s design philosophy, does look quite dated.
You’re getting fat bezels top and bottom sandwiched by a 5.7-inch display, with a single rear camera (12MP) and front camera (8MP).
Internally, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage with a card reader also features. A rear fingerprint scanner, headphone jack, and Android 9.0 Pie also features.
The Fairphone 3 will be available in Europe from 3 September for €450 (or just under R7700).
