Israel says yes to internet-enabled donkeys
In Hoshaya, Israel and as a bid to reel in tourists, a religion-themed amusement park called Kfar Kedem (translated: Village of Yore) has begun to install Wi-Fi access into donkeys. Oh yes.
This Jewish-orthodox themed village is like colonial-reenactment tours in the US. Everyone looks and sounds like they come from the middle ages. Unsure if there was uncapped internet in the first century though.
So why internet then? The manager of Kfar Kedem says that visitors will be able to upload videos and images while at the park, potentially in a bid to boost to its social media standing. The manager says that about five of his thirty donkeys are now Wi-Fi enabled.
How’s it going to work then? It’s actually very simple in theory. With a 3G dongle, a solar powered charger and a tiny USB router, anyone and anything can become a WiFi hotspot. Even easier, with an iPhone, iPad or certain Android 4.0 phones, a WiFi hotspot can be created from any device. Our thought: when the park upgrades, will Wi-Fi horses make the grade?
