Eric Schmidt: Global knowledge means that ‘eventually technology disappears’

The ease with which technology connects us, means that at a global level, human knowledge is accelerating. With this increased knowledge we will be able to create a new set of wealth and opportunities.

That’s according to Google chairman Eric Schmidt, who argues that technology offers far more solutions than problems, particularly when it comes to education, human governance, and conflict.

Speaking at Google Zeitgeist Americas, Schmidt uses the example of how massively open courses like the Khan Academy and Coursra are changing the face of education. Because all of these courses have to get the edge on each other, they bring competition to a sector that’s never had it before. That’s without even going into the potential for collaboration, the ease with which they can be used by people already holding down full-time jobs, and the manner in which they spread knowledge, which would have once been restricted to a small locale, around the globe.

The same kind of thing applies to nearly every other sector of our lives.

Further in the future, Schmidt, knowledge about “the things that bind us as a species” will not slow down, contrary to popular expectations. “The simultaneous science means that core learning grows ever faster…the global science has sort of no restrictions,” he says.

“If we get this right, I believe we can fix all the world’s problems,” he adds.

Google Zeitgeist means “the spirit of the times,” and this spirit can be seen through the aggregation of millions of search queries Google receives every day. The annual Zeitgeist report reveals what captured the world’s attention in the past year along with Google’s passions, interests and defining moments as seen through search.

Nope, resolution is GPU bound not CPU bound. Your entire post is a lie. As for an overclock, that’s laugh out loud worthy. Since the PS4 has twice the ROPS and more compute units it can easily handle 1080P resolution. It’s a simple instruction set that says “display at this resolution.” You spread misinformation and I’m going to tell the truth on every one of these posts.

“twice the ROPs and More Computing units” don’t mean squat if the CPU isn’t up to par. The GPU is too beefy without a proper CPU to accompany it. The HD Twins processors are so weak sauce that they make a iPhone look like a computing powerhouse in comparison!

    Just saying

If they’re both 900p 30 fps PS4 should have a higher average framerate, or more visual effects. Or bump up to 1080p if the framerates and effects are the same.

The CPU performance of both consoles is very similar. If both are CPU bound, PS4′s GPU still has extra headroom. Anyone with a gaming PC knows if your game is CPU bound you probably have room to up resolution or effects, but not framerate.

There will be no parity if PS4′s stronger hardware is being pushed. In essentially every way, the PS4′s hardware is more powerful than the XBO’s.

If they’re the same resolution, PS4 will have a framerate or visual effects advantage, or its stronger hardware isn’t being pushed.

PS4′s GPU still has about 40% more raw teraflops than Xbox (1.31TF to 1.84TF) for rendering, which is about the percent of pixels between 900p and 1080p. On top of other things like memory and GPGPU.

Factual PS4 Hardware Advantages: +6 CUs, +540 GFlops (40% greater) or more (1.3TF to 1.84TF), +16 ROPs, +6 ACEs/CQs, better GPGPU support (volatile bit and onion+ gpu cache bypass bus), better performing CPU, faster unified memory, and less OS overhead.

No amount of API updates is going to make up for that hardware gap.

Exclusively 1080p 60 FPS console games on PS4: MGS V, CoD Ghosts, FFXIV, Tomb Raider, MLB The Show 14, Resogun, Trials Fusion, Diablo 3 (higher framerate), Project Cars, Metro Redux, TLOU Remastered, more.

Sony’s ICE team, Naughty Dog, and Santa Monica Studios will fully utilize PS4′s stronger hardware, so it will stay ahead in graphics performance.

Driveclub, The Order, Uncharted 4, etc. are technically superior as they run on more powerful hardware. Normal, unbiased, sane people recognize PS4 exclusive games look better, which makes sense given they’re running on more powerful hardware.

Anyone with technical knowledge knew PS4′s game graphics performance would be better for the entire generation as soon as the specs were official. That was well over a year ago.

Every console or gaming device has a power budget that can be put towards resolution, framerate, or visual effects. PS4 has a higher total budget than Xbox, and good PCs have an even higher budget.

If you read the statement from Ubisoft, it’s not the GPUs that are holding back Unity. Both GPUs are “extrememly powerful with room to spare. We could get the game running at 100fps if it wasn’t for the CPU Bottleneck”

Since you’re bringing up Delayclub, you’re referencing the game with:
    -No Weather Effects,
    -No Online Options
    -Non Customizable Cars
    -No Dedicated Servers
    -6 person clans (compared to Forza’s 1000)
    -No Cars (50 to Forza’s 200)
    -No music tracks (50 to FH2 150)
    -Lack of Collision Car Modeling
    -10 hour Game
-Circuit Racer (compared to Forzas Open World with Circuits) Forza Horizon 2 WHOOPS DC in every way, and even has Amazing Graphics on top of all those features. Very Next Gen compared to Delayclubs PS3 Launch Title Status

So, first question: Do you even know what CPUs do? What about GPUs? Sounds like you need to Educate yourself first with those “Fax”

Blah blah and blah. Google “GPU Handles resolution.” You must be paid well to act like everyone is a dumbass while making yourself appear as one.
