Beckham, dead vampires: The Super Bowl in ads

Super Bowl Sunday. It’s practically a national holiday, all around the world people gather to watch four hours of passion, dedication and pure ingenuity. Some even watch the football.

Having an ad air during the Super Bowl is a big a deal and chances are, if the ad is really good or bad, it will go viral. So like kids counting the days until Christmas, every year we await the football extravaganza just so we can see what the advertising geniuses come up with to entertain us while we wonder if Tom Brady will lead the Patriots to a win.

Last year Volkswagen’s “Boy Vader” ad gripped the world, and this year the car maker came back fierce with its dog ad, as it fought off other car brands vying for supremo status during Super Bowl 46.

Who wouldn’t want to spend four hours of their lives waiting for David Beckham to traipse around in his underpants or see a bunch of vampires spontaneously combust or watch one dog’s mission to chase a car?

Here are a few choice ads that came out of Sunday’s game. For all 60+ ads you can go here.
