#MeetSouthAfrica lets Kanye, Kim know their kid shares a name with a province

It was bound to happen. As soon as the world found out that hip hop star Kanye West and reality TV diva Kim Kardashian had named their child North (as in North West) someone was going to come up with a piece of wit surrounding the South African province of the same name.

And here it is.

Yup, as you can see the image helpfully informs West and Kardashian where the province their daughter shares a name with is located. Who knows, perhaps the “unconventional” name will encourage more tourists to visit the land of precious platinum. One of its bigger cities Rustenberg is home to the two largest platinum mines in the world and the world’s largest platinum refinery, PMR (Precious Metal Refiners), which processes around 70% of the world’s platinum.

The #MeetSouthAfrica hashtag mentioned in the image was used for an iAmbassador collaboration between South Africa Tourism and Cape Town Tourism which earlier this year took 15 international bloggers across South Africa using four different itineraries.

Last year, a similar initiative using the #LoveCapeTown hashtag generated 1 500 tweets, 13 521 392 impressions and reached an audience of 623 041 followers.
