Watch Joaquin Phoenix teach his voice assistant to love in new ‘Her’ trailer

The concept for Spike Jonze’s Her, in which Joaquin Phoenix falls for his Siri-like voice assistant, might not be entirely original but it does look incredibly promising.

While the assistant, voiced by Scarlett Johansson, seems far more capable than anything currently available in the market, the film could potentially be an important exploration of our desire to connect in an increasingly fragmented and isolated world. A score by The Arcade Fire doesn’t hurt either.
