JJ Abrams is giving you the opportunity to be in the next ‘Star Wars’ movie

Always wondered what it must be like to be behind the scenes on a mega sci-fi movie watching aliens go by? You may have a shot at that dream.

New Star Wars director JJ Abrams took to YouTube yesterday to invite the world to apply for a spot in the next film in the mega space series. Speaking from the set of Episode VII in Abu Dhabi, Abrams said the team would be offering one fan and a friend a chance to appear in the film (in full makeup and costume, of course) and meet the cast when production moves to London’s Pinewood Studios.

All you have to do is head over to the Omaze page the team has set up for their new charity, Star Wars: Force for Change. The initiative hopes to attract donations for UNICEF’s Innovation Lab, which has a range of programs (ranging from nutrition and water to health and education) which aim to help the world’s most vulnerable children.

While you don’t need to make a monetary contribution to enter the competition, there are also a range of rewards for those who do, ranging from a limited edition Chewbacca bust to an advanced private screening of the final film in a town near you. Yes, it’s like KickStarter for a charity… just one which Disney has already donated US$1-million to.
