Apple iOS 12.3 debuts with a more useful Apple TV app

Apple on Monday launched its iOS 12.3 update, largely focused on a redesigned Apple TV app.

“The Apple TV app features an all-new design that highlights expertly curated collections and personalized recommendations,” the company said on its website.

The new Apple TV gives users the opportunity to subscribe to channels like HBO and Showtime individually, within the app.

“Customers can now subscribe to Apple TV channels within the Apple TV app — paying for only the ones they want,” Apple explained.

This means that users do not have to subscribe to the Apple TV service overall to access specific content.

Apple TV users will also be able to see recommended, personalised content with the update, and a new Kids tab.

“Additionally, customers can find their purchased movies and shows from iTunes in the redesigned Library tab,” the company noted.

According to Apple, the new Apple TV app is rolling out on iOS 12.3  to over 100 countries world wide. Unfortunately, this does not include South Africa.

The app is also rolling out to 2019 and selected 2018 Samsung smart TVs.

iOS 12.3 further includes bug fixes, as well as new media sharing support for AirPlay 2.

The latter allows users to share photos, videos and music directly to paired smart TVs.
