Disney’s The Lion King is now the biggest animated movie of all time
Disney’s The Lion King is now the biggest animated movie of all time, bringing the six-year reign of previous titled holder Frozen to an end this weekend.
The Lion King has made $1.33-billion globally since its release a month ago, eclipsing Frozen‘s $1.27-billion it made back in 2013, according to BoxOfficeMojo.
The CG remake is now just behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, and biggest ever movie in South Africa, Black Panther, which sits tenth on the all-time list.
Avengers Endgame, the biggest movie in history, continues to pull away from Avatar, now grossing $2.795-billion at the global box office.
It’s unlikely that Simba and co. will come close to toppling its reign, but expect it to enter the top ten sometime this month.
