World Mental Health Day: Facebook adds stickers for those who need to talk

Facebook

In honour of World Mental Health Day on Thursday, Facebook revealed a new filter and sticker pack designed to promote conversation on the platform.

Called “Let’s Talk”, the new tools give users a chance to reach out to their respective communities on Facebook Stories and Messenger when they need help.

Users can apply the Let’s Talk filter as a frame on their Stories or choose from stickers like “feeling alone” and “talk to me” on Messenger.

“Each time a sticker is sent, Facebook will donate $1 to a group of mental health organizations, up to $1-million,” Facebook said on its blog.

The stickers and filter, which were designed in partnership with the World Health Organisation, are currently available on both Facebook and Messenger.

With online platforms becoming a breeding ground for mental health issues like depression and anxiety, company’s like Facebook are actively looking for ways to reduce harmful behaviour amongst its users.

Both Facebook and Instagram began hiding like counts this year, and the latter recently implemented new anti-bullying tools as well.
