Rumored: Microsoft knocking out Windows 8 tablet to smash Apple’s iPad

And about time too. According to the mystical sources, Microsoft will make a tablet in-house to rival the might of Apple’s iPad.

It’s a funny thing though, because the father of Windows never had any interest in creating its own tablet, so chipping away Apple’s market-share is going to be a major uphill battle.

Microsoft is expected to reveal its table at an event on Monday in Los Angeles. The company has leaked no information regarding any tablet announcement, saying only that “this will be a major Microsoft announcement — you will not want to miss it.”

Okay, so there’s no hardware or software details, but we can speculate that the tablet will run an ARM CPU, which mirrors its mobile efforts in the Lumia range of phones. Hell, let’s go ahead and say that the tablet will be no more powerful than a super-sized Lumia phone.

We say, it’s unlikely that a tablet will come out. Sure, there are rumours and speculations but that’s how the world turns when one of the biggest tech and software companies in the world decides to hold a mysterious press conference. Anyway, take this rumour with a massive pinch of salt. Eff that, let’s go ahead and dump a truckload of salt on this bitch and soothe the rumour-mill before it kicks into full swing. Or, Monday’s press conference will reveal a tablet with the full might of Microsoft’s powers.
