Meet Swedish designed ‘R-Kaid-Revelation’, the ultimate retro gaming PC

The R Kaid (geddit?) Revelation is just that, a “PC Computer” with transparent LCD and two wireless joysticks, all beautifully created in walnut and copper. The PC, designed by Love Hulten has over 10 000 arcade games, all emulated, 8GB RAM and a GTX 600 GPU. But this time it’s not about what’s inside, but what’s outside that counts, as this is the best looking custom PC we’ve ever clapped eyes on.

It has a rotating foot stand, a volume dial with stereo speakers lovingly built into the front panel under the display, drawers underneath for two USB joypads (which looks insanely great) plus the Bluetooth, backlit keyboard docks on top of the monitor when not in use. Peripheral accessories are held in small drawer which interlocks with magnets, not that magnets are the greatest friend of computers. The mouse is wood, and wireless. Here’s the full breakdown of the specs, care of Boing Boing.

Other peripheral nonsense includes a light-switch with adjustable lighting for the glass modded case. One of the best features is the display, which slides up with a flick of a switch. It’s in the video, and mighty impressive. The modded PC needs a little assembling to enjoy, as every time the joypad is pulled out, it needs to be physically screwed into place. It’s all part of a grand scheme though, as the PC has an optional “Arcade Gaming interface” that mimics the chunky look of penny arcades from the eighties and nineties. From the Arcade Gaming interface, we saw loads of emulators – (Mega Drive, Super Nintendo and Commodore 64) on display, all selected with a flick of the joystick.

It’s the projected display that appeals the most. A screen shoots up over the guts of the PC and the display is projected onto it. From the looks of it, the modder has hit the nail on the head in terms of retro look-and-feel. R-Kaid is not for sale, but we can stare at the pictures, and dream.
