Nintendo to offer black ‘Splatoon’ Premium Pack bundle come 19 June [update]

Update: The exclusive Splatoon bundle will retail for R4499 in South Africa, at least according to the latest Raru listings.

We’re all waiting patiently for Splatoon coming a little later next month, but Nintendo South Africa has plans to bolster sales of the game and its Wii U console well after its 29 May release date. Nintendo has announced that it will be offering a Nintendo Wii U Splatoon Premium Pack bundle, available from 19 June.

“This inkredible bundle includes a disc copy of Splatoon alongside a black premium Wii U console with 32GB* of storage, plus a black Wii U GamePad controller,” jovially notes the presser.

If you’re not quite sure what Splatoon is, or what it’s a big deal for Nintendo, the game takes the third-person shooter and turns it on its head.

The presser explains the game’s prerogative a bit more:

In the game, players take on the role of the Inklings, customisable characters that can transform into squids at the touch of a button. After splatting opponents and covering a level with colourful ink, players can transform into squids and swim quickly through their own ink or use it to take cover and hide from enemies.

At the time of writing, Nintendo has yet to release any pricing details for the bundle.
