Energizer Power Max P490S arrives in South Africa for R1899
The Energizer Power Max P490S is now available in South Africa, its local importer Pure Distribution announced on Monday.
A decidedly budget smartphone which focusses primarily on longevity, the P490S will be priced at R1899.
For that price, users get a compact device. Weighing in at just 139 grams with a 960×480 4.95 inch display, it’s one of the smaller smartphones you can get in South Africa.
With it though comes a 4000mAh battery, which Energizer believes can last “16 days in standby mode and 10 hours in constant use”.
There’s a Mediatek MT6739WA chipset, 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM to boot. THere’s also a microSD card slot, and the option to use two SIM cards too.
Energizer claims you can get 10 hours of constant usage through the 4000mAh battery
At the back, there’s an 8MP primary camera with a VGA depth sensor. Up front there’s a 5MP snapper with another VGA depth sensor beside it. It’s actually an impressive feat for a phone under R2000.
Also included is a 3.5mm headphone jack, a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, and a microSD port for charging and data transfer.
The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo.
The Power Max P490S follows a number of Energizer devices heading to South Africa in 2019, including the mid-range HardCase H500S, and flagship HardCase H550S.
Energizer in March 2019 announced a slew of devices heading to market around the world, so expect a few more before the end of the year.
