Huawei P40 Lite price is official, here’s how much you’ll pay in SA
Last month, we reported the retail price of the Huawei P40 Lite from Cellucity, but it seems you might need to fork out a little more for the phone when it does finally arrive.
Huawei has now confirmed to Memeburn its official recommended retail price for the P40 series’ first entry in South Africa. The device will be available from all mobile operators in the country from 18 May for R6499.
That price puts it squarely against the Samsung Galaxy A51 (which launched at R6999 in February), and the cheaper but slightly older Redmi Note 8 Pro (priced at R4999).
It’s also notably more expensive than the outgoing model, the P30 Lite, which made its debut a year ago for R5999.
The pricing confirmation comes nearly three months after the phone was first spotted in Spain.
It shares similar specs and design with its Honor 7i cousin, including a 6.4-inch screen, Kirin 810 chipset, and 48MP primary camera. It also sports a 4200mAh battery, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The phone’s single SIM model will be offered in South Africa.
Huawei has yet to confirm pricing and availability info for the rest of its P40 series devices which were officially unveiled last month.
