Renault gives its Twingo city car a sporty new look [Gallery]

It’s difficult not to like the Renault Twingo — it’s sporty, fun and fueled by serious French flair. And, if anything, the latest update to the city car has made it even more likable.

Inspired by the original Twingo and the Renault 5, the car is set to be a relative of the Smart FourFour with a few very significant differences.

For instance, the Twingo’s engine will be in the back — something which its designers reckon will help improve its turning circle and free up extra cabin space. Mirroring the Twin’Z and Twin’Run concept cars that Renault presented in 2013, the new Twingo comes in a choice of four “vibrant ‘pop’ colours (light blue, white, yellow and red)”.

There are also new headlights and an all glass hatch.

Beyond its impressive exterior design and the fact that it’s the first five-door Twingo in history, there’s not much else we can tell you about this racy little urban beast.

For the full details on its engine and interior, we’ll have to wait until 4 March when the new Twingo is unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.
