FNB will give you eBucks when you ride with Uber

South African bank First National Bank (FNB) has long carried the mantle of most innovative bank in the country, from offering smartphones and notebooks to enabling people to make cardless withdrawals. What better way to further instil this philosophy by partnering with on-demand taxi service Uber?

As of 1 July, South African FNB clients will earn loyalty points, eBucks, by using the Uber app. The standard eBucks rules and features apply, such as up to 15% back in eBucks, and the usage of your FNB card. If you sign-up for Uber through the eBucks website you’ll also receive R200 off of your first Uber trip.

So far the banking giant has partnered with other online shops like YuppieChef, Takealot, Superbalist and more, enabling customers to both earn and spend eBucks on the platforms.

Considering the current controversy surrounding Uber both locally and internationally, this is an interesting move for the company. It may bring in more business from those who support eBucks partners in order to earn points.
