Justin Bieber returns to Instagram to sell T-Mobile deals
Well, Instagram has been busy this week. After the network played host to Beyonce’s record-breaking pregnancy reveal, it also welcomed the return of Justin Bieber.
Bieber, who ditched the social network in August 2016 after a spat with his fans, returned to Instagram with a video. But it wasn’t a snap of him holding an American flag, or a short clip of a new video, or even just Bieber being Bieber. Nope.
It was actually an advertisement.
Justin Bieber said goodbye to his Instagram fans last year, but has returned as a salesman
Dressed in a suit and donning some black-rimmed glasses, the Canadian singer partnered with German telecoms giant T-Mobile to punt the company’s Superbowl-inspired unlimited data plan.
The video has garnered over 5.1-million views, which is rather impressive considering that T-Mobile’s clip — posted on YouTube — has accrued slightly more than 5.6-million.
Fans of the mega-star didn’t really seem to mind though, with a swathe of the 290 000 comments all welcoming Bieber back to Instagram.
“No one of us knows him to say he is a bad boy, he didn’t deserve to be hurt when others don’t know what exactly happened. I saw him on his concert and I’m very proud of him,” reads one comment.
“I love him so much!!”
Justin Bieber — even after his 24 week hiatus from the social network — commands 77.3-million followers, the ninth most of any Instagram user. He still trails Selena Gomez — the network’s most-followed individual — by just over 30-million.
