#BowWowChallenge: you just can’t fool the internet, even if you’re Bow Wow

Social media challenges are seemingly a genre of memes unto their own, but throw hip-hop artist Bow Wow into the mix, and you have yourself a viral fad.

Posting a flashy Instagram snap to his timeline this week, the rapper whose real name is Shad Moss, seemingly lined up a charter flight on a jet, fit with Maybach in tow for a trip to New York.

“Travel day. NYC press run for Growing Up Hip Hop. Lets gooo. I promise to bring yall the hottest show EVER,” he writes on the post.

But that was all just an illusion of reality.

The Verge did a little bit of digging this week, reverse Google Image searching his picture in question, and landed on a company, dubbed MIA VIP Transportation.

Rapper Bow Wow might’ve just inadvertently created the best meme of the month in the #BowWowChallenge

A Snapchat picture shared on Twitter then confirmed the worst: Bow Wow is the master of the #BowWowChallenge, or stunting, pretending that your life is just a little more lavish than your Instagram profile.

Because the internet never forgives nor forgets, the #BowWowChallenge was adopted by social media’s finest pranksters.

As the origin platform of the meme, Instagram also joined in with some badly photoshopped, and location-tagged snaps.

Brands also couldn’t quite resist throwing vast amounts of shade on the rapper, including gaming publication IGN and NFL football team Philly Eagles.

As for the final nail slammed into Bow Wow’s social faux pas, Twitter collated some of the biggest hitting examples into an everlasting Moment.

There’s seemingly nowhere to hide on the internet if you pretend you’re a baller.

Bow Wow has yet to respond to the challenge or the incident on any of his social channels, but we can’t completely blame him if he decides to lay low for a while.
