Some world leaders regard immigrants with the utmost disregard, but in Paris this past weekend, a 22-year-old Malian national did something pretty damn incredible.

As a toddler hung from a fourth storey balcony just moments from death, 22-year-old Mamoudou Gassama leapt from the ground, pulled himself up floor by floor and scaled the balcony railings to save the kid. This sentence doesn’t do his efforts justice, so just watch the clip.

From another angle.

On Twitter, Gassama’s being hailed as “le Spiderman” while French leaders wish to grant the Malian French citizenship, including Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo and French president Emmanuel Macron.

Notably, Gassama doesn’t have papers either, amplifying the risk he took to save a child he didn’t know.

Congratulations to Mamoudou Gassama for his act of bravery that saved the life of a child last night. I enjoyed talking with him today by phone, to thank him warmly,” wrote Hidalgo.

Others on Twitter are in awe.

Sorry Tom Holland, but I think you’ve been usurped.
