Spotify Lite is now officially available in South Africa

Spotify Lite has officially launched in 36 countries around the world and will now be available in South Africa too.
The 10MB app is a “small, fast and simplified” version of Spotify that was built to ease the struggles of data usage and storage space on devices.
“You’ll still be able to search and play your favourite songs and artists, save them, share with others, discover new music, and enjoy playlists made just for you, but with a few extra features making it ideal for older devices and operating systems,” Spotify explained in a press release.
Lite is compatible with Android version 4.3 upwards and can be downloaded alongside the full version of the app.
“Spotify Lite also comes with the ability to set a data limit and get a notification when you reach it,” the company said, further noting the users can also clear their cache on the app.
Spotify Lite, which the company tested in 2018, is now available to download on Google Play in parts of Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
