Google’s Live Caption can officially caption Pixel 4 videos in real time
Google’s Live Caption feature is now available following the company’s recent release of its Pixel 4 range.
The feature, which was first revealed by Google back in May, annotates videos and audio on Pixel 4 in real-time, allowing users to read what they are listening to or watching.
“The captions won’t get in the way of whatever you’re looking at because you can position them anywhere on the screen,” the company said on its blog.
Users can also access the feature without a WiFi or data connection because Live Caption is “completely on-device”.
“Live Caption supports English with plans to support more languages in the near future,” Google further said.
Though accuracy is largely dependent on sound quality, the company also noted plans to improve Live Caption’s effectiveness “over time”.
According to Google, the feature will roll out on the Pixel 3 range towards the end of this year. The company also plans to expand the tool to other Android smartphones next year.
