Samsung Galaxy S20 and beyond: 7 things to expect at tomorrow’s Unpacked 2020
Arguably the biggest launch event of the year for Samsung, Unpacked is the starter served ahead of the packed February/March smartphone launch menu.
Traditionally, it’s the debut event for the Galaxy S series, but often we see a few non-phone products make their first appearances too.
In this piece, we take a look at some products you can expect, rumoured to appear, or likely to be teased at Unpacked 2020.
Galaxy S20, S20 Plus and S20 Ultra
I mean, what can be said that hasn’t been said already?
To recap, there will be three phones, and a new “Ultra” nomenclature used on the most expensive device.

As for specifications, we’ve detailed the leaked numbers and figures for all three phones here, and as pricing goes, we take an educated guess based on leaked US pricing here.
Galaxy Z Flip
Perhaps even more exciting than the Galaxy S20 Ultra, the Z Flip — the company’s first foldable phone in a clamshell form factor — is also expected to be announced.
Based on previous leaks, we know the phone will feature ultra thin bendable glass, giving it a durability improvement over the Galaxy Fold.
The phone has also been detailed in the flesh in on Twitter.

As for specifications, we take a more detailed look at what could lie beneath that display here.
Samsung Galaxy Home Mini
Something we haven’t yet covered is Samsung’s smart home ambitions, but they are very real.
It may be a few years too late, but the company could debut its Google Nest Mini, Apple Home and Amazon Echo rival in the form of the Galaxy Home Mini.
It’ll be powered by Bixby, not Google Assistant, and will launch on 12 February in South Korea, according to Samsung’s own leaked info. And thanks to this extraordinary long thread by XDA’s Max Weinbach, we have an idea of what to expect.

It may not launch at Unpacked 2020, but it’s worth keeping an eye out nonetheless.
Samsung Galaxy Buds Plus
In another self-own by Samsung, the company revealed the existence of its Galaxy Buds Plus by publishing an app to the Apple App Store.
You can’t make this stuff up.
Roland Quandt of Winfuture also published an early hands-on with the new pair, which should feature bigger batteries, more colours, two drivers per pair, and faster charging.
Android announcement
And finally, expect to see an announcement from the Android team.
Yeah, it doesn’t reveal much, but there are possible topics the team could discuss.
Last month, Samsung and Google were reportedly working on integrating Duo — Google’s video calling app — into Samsung Messages.
We’ll have to wait and see with this one.
